26 Jul, 2017

The Lahore High Court on Tuesday reserved its verdict on maintainability of a petition seeking ban on daily basis strikes of young doctors. A citizen, Tahir Hussain, submitted that young doctors had almost made their routine to go on strike just on petty issues. He said that due to strike the doctors suspend provision of health facilities at the hospitals and do not allow others to work which causes threat to the lives of patients. He submitted that these doctors play havoc with the lives of people by closing the emergencies of public hospitals. He submitted that the young doctors who are entrusted with the duty to save life do not deserve any mercy when they show no regard for human life.
He therefore sought a stern action against young doctors denying health services to even critical patients. The court after preliminary hearing reserved its verdict on the maintainability of the petition.
