Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has expressed concern over delay in the depositing of the recovered amounts in public exchequer by most of government department, due to which they not only faced more audit objections rather their performance also gives the impression of non-seriousness. The meeting of the Public Accounts Committee held here with MPA Qurban Ali Khan in the chair in KP House, Abbottabad on Tuesday. Besides, MPAs, Mahmood Jan Khan, Mohammad Idrees Khattak, Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha and Mufti Said Janan, Secretary Assembly Amanullah Khan and Additional Secretary Assembly Amjad Ali Khan, Secretary Health Abid Majeed and authorities of law, audit and finance departments also attended.
The committee discussed in details audit objections amounting to Rs 786.521 million during financial year 2013-14 and audit paras of Rs 10.760 million. The committee directed the authorities of concerned departments to play their role in the timely depositing of the recovered amount in public exchequer.
The PAC took strong notice of two audit objections regarding Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) about user charges and not depositing of an amount of Rs 5.398 million by Almonar in the public exchequer and further investigation referred the matter to a sub-committee headed by MPA Qurban Ali Khan.
On this occasion, the concerned authorities explained that for the recovery of the amount concerned Almonar was contacted, but they ignore the directives of the department as usual. The committee while discussing audit objections of Health Department directed the provision of the complete record of the purchase of Hepatitis C vaccines worth Rs 0320 million and presentation of report to the PAC. Regarding the purchase of 100mg less effective medicines instead of 150mg worth Rs 2.545 million, the committee directed the Secretary Health for conducting an inquiry into the matter and submit the report to PAC.
