Sindh government has sought induction of ML-1 project - installation of railway tracks from Peshawar to Karachi under CPEC for railway station to be built in Dhabeeji Special Economic Zone (DSEZ). The issue was discussed by Naheed Memon chairperson Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) while talking to the consultants of the consortium working on DSEZ at SBI office here.
According to details, the meeting was convened to prepare draft of land policy and regulations of the DSEZ for approval. She also directed to work on the idea to build five Star Hotel nearby the DSEZ in order to facilitate the investors and buyers. The Chairperson SBI also ordered to prepare suggestions regarding improvement of the roads and railway tracks which are connected to DSEZ. She said that steps must be also taken to include among priorities the project 'ML-1` about installation of railway tracks from Peshawar to Karachi for the railway station which will be built in the DSEZ in line with the CPEC to ensure smooth transportation of industrial goods from DSEZ. The representatives of the companies' members of the consortium working of the DSEZ and officials of the SBI attended the meeting.
Needless to mention, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has already approved the summary of DSEZ and the 1000 acres land have been allocated for the purpose. The estimated cost of infrastructure development is around US$100 million and the Sindh government also received committed investment from Chinese investors in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, garment manufacturing and steel sectors for DSEZ. The expected industrial output of this zone will exceed US$ 2 billion and more than 100,000 direct and indirect jobs will be generated in DSEZ.
