People across the city faced acute shortage of petrol and diesel on Wednesday as almost 70 percent of fuel stations remained closed due to non supply of fuel from depots here in the metropolis. The fuel crises emerged due to 3-days long countrywide strike observed by All Pakistan Oil Tanker Owners' Association (APOTOA) in protest against 'tough' OGRA safety regulations, harassment of motorway and excise police, besides a set of issues with the government.
Petrol and diesel was available only at quite a few fuel stations in different locations of metropolis where long queues of vehicles were witnessed with drivers struggling to fill up tanks. However, the situation started lingering back towards normality in the evening as APOTOA announced to call off strike after successful negotiations with the government.
