Security beefed-up around SC

Comprehensive security arrangements will be made in and around Supreme Court as apex court is all set to announce the much awaited Panama Papers case verdict on Friday (today). A senior police officer said that heavy contingent of Islamabad police including security and operation division, Frontier Constabulary (FC) and personnel of Rangers will be deployed in and around the Red Zone in order to avert any untoward incident. He said that security will also be put on high alert across the city and especially roads leading to Red Zone.
SSP Security Division Jamil Hashmi will monitor the security arrangements. The authorities have issued directives to deploy police and rangers around all the sensitive buildings in the vicinity including Parliament House, Presidency, Prime Minister's Secretariat and Pak-Secretariat blocks. Gun-toting personnel of Rangers will stood alert on rooftops of buildings in the vicinity of Constitution Avenue and while others closely guarded different buildings below.
He said that commandoes of Islamabad Police, Lady police, mobile patrolling, mobile eagles, Anti-Terrorists Squad (ATS), Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), personnel of Quick Response Force would be also deputed at different location. He said that special passes would be issued to the visitors and no unauthorized person will be allowed to enter the Red Zone till court proceedings are over.
Only, bona fide lawyers or card holders will be allowed entry into the Supreme Court, he said. The official said that three cordons of security will be maintained around the court. Entry points will be manned by Supreme Court security police and the outer cordons by police, FC and Rangers.
