Awareness walk to mark 'World Hepatitis Day' held

Under the arrangements of District Health Authority an awareness walk held in connection with World Hepatitis Day to raise awareness and understanding of viral hepatitis and its complication among public. Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani led the walk. CEO DHA Dr Zafar Abbas, DHO Dr Asif Shahzad, Dr Bilal, Dr Waseem, Medical Social Officer Ayesha Anjum, Social Welfare Officer Kashif Nisar, Chairman Private School Alliance Sadaqat Hussain Lodhi, officers of different departments, representatives of NGOs and people from different walks of life were also participated in a walk.
The walk was started from District Council Chowk and culminated at Katchery Bazar chowk after passing through the Khalique Qureshi road and press club building. The participants of walk carrying banners and placards inscribed of the guide lines on prevention and control measures from hepatitis.
Addressing to the participants Deputy Commissioner said that the purpose of observance of hepatitis day is to provide necessary awareness about this disease to the people in an effective manner and Punjab govt. has engaged in an organized campaign to sensitize the general public through different sources. He said Punjab govt. has also provided sufficient resources in hospitals for the eradication of hepatitis and free medicines of hepatitis disease had been supplied to the registered patients through courier service to their door steps. DC said district administration has also initiated a special campaign to control this disease and therefore hepatitis control program was being move forwarded in an effective manner. He said that people should follow the quality health principles and to adopt the necessary precautionary measures to avoid hepatitis and other epidemic diseases.
CEO District Health Authority Dr Zafar Abbas and District Health Officer Dr Asif Shahzad stated that ample medical treatment facilities were being provided to the patients at govt. hospitals and special hepatitis clinic had been set up at tehsil headquarters hospitals for medical tests and treatment. They said that awareness seminar and other programmes were also being conducted to apprise the citizens about the precautionary measures and danger of the fatal disease of hepatitis under District Health department.
