PML-N equates Articles 62, 63 with defunct 58 2(b)

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Sunday described the use of words 'godfather' and 'mafia' by the judges of the top court through the course of the Panama case as "humiliation of party". The former railways minister said that the Panama Papers had targeted Nawaz Sharif, Russian President Vladimir Putin and David Cameron, former British premier. He said that PML-N was advised to express its displeasure over the use of those objectionable words globally but it didn't take that course.
In a sardonic tone, he asked whether Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the apex court for corruption or money laundering. He regretted his party's failure to repeal Article 62 and Article 63 of Constitution of Pakistan. "We had no idea that the Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution will turn out to be 58 (2B) for us," he said. He questioned why Articles 62 and 63 are imposed only on politicians. Indirectly criticizing the higher judiciary, Saad Rafique said that the court didn't take any action over the issue of the photo leak. He said the voluminous JIT report could not be prepared by even 600 men in the given time. 'Faces of corruption' are seen standing next to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, he alleged. While talking about the PML-N nominee Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Saad Rafique said that the political party would urge Pakistan People's Party (PPP) to elect the former petroleum minister as interim prime minister.
He said that PML-N representatives would also ask Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Awami National Party (ANP) to vote for Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. Baloch leader Bugti signed the 1973 constitution but he was killed later on. He asked: "Do certain sections want to repeat that in Punjab too?" The former minister said that there was nothing objectionable in the press conference addressed by the former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar hours before the premier was ordered to be disqualified. He said that political opponents of the premier should pull their socks up for NA-120 by-election as people are going to opt for PML-N as their party, he said.
