LHCBA vows to resolve 'dispute' between bar and bench

02 Aug, 2017

The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Tuesday vowed to play its role in resolving the issue of clash between the Lahore High Court (Multan Bench) and the bar leadership. The LHCBA office-bearers and representatives of the Lahore Bar Association, Supreme Court Bar Association, Punjab Bar Council and Pakistan Bar Council took part in a meeting held here on Tuesday.
The bar leaders said that the lawyers always fought for supremacy of law and defended every attack on the judiciary. They said both the bench and bar are integral part of each other. LHCBA President Chaudhary Zulfiqar Ali said they were trying their best to maintain unity among the lawyers. When asked about Multan High Court Bar President Sher Zaman's matter, he replied that it was sub-judice and avoided to make any comment. However, he said they simply wanted that the bar and bench should stand united for supremacy of law. It may be mentioned here that on July 24, LHCBA Multan President Zaman Qureshi, along with a lawyer, allegedly closed door of a courtroom and ripped off nameplate of the judge.
