The Marvel Comics mogul passed away on November 12 at the age of 95, however, fans will see Stan Lee for one last time as he had already filmed cameos in upcoming Marvel films ‘Captain Marvel’ and ‘Avengers 4’ before his death.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has confirmed that Lee has filmed a number of cameos prior to his death, including for the hotly-anticipated ‘Avengers 4’ and ‘Captain Marvel’. “I’m not going to tell you what [cameos] specifically,” Feige told Variety. “But Stan always appreciated a good surprise.”
Reports said that since Lee didn’t like to travel too much, the makers made him shoot for all his cameos together probably in one day. In a report published in CBR in April, director Joe Russo had confirmed his appearance in the upcoming Avengers 4.
“So, Stan, typically we try to get him out — he doesn’t love to fly — so we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time. So if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we’re on, for instance Ant-Man 2 or Avengers 4, we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and kind of get him through his cameos in one day,” he had said.
‘Avengers 4’ releases in May 2019 while ‘Captain Marvel’ will hit theatres in March.
