Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar on Friday urged the newly-elected Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to announce a development package for Karachi. "Karachi has always given support to entire country for the last seventy years and contributed largely to the national exchequer but the country's revenue engine is currently going through severe financial crisis," he said talking to media during his visit to the Baldia Town, here. He urged the Prime Minister to play his due role for development of the port city.
Waseem had also made this demand during the tenure of Nawaz Sharif for many a times but then prime minister didn't lend ear to his genuine demand. Now, the Mayor expressed hope that the interim PM could do needful to help sort out civic issues of metropolis on priority basis. Karachi mayor deplored that the district West is being run by administrators despite the existence of local bodies setup.
