Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's chief whip in the National Assembly Shireen Mazari called for formation of a committee to conduct inquiry against foreign minister Khawaja Asif for making offensive remarks about her and another PTI female leader. Reacting to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's statement calling for formation of a parliamentary committee to look into MNA Ayesha Gulalai's allegations of harassment against PTI chief Imran Khan, Mazari said an inquiry should also be conducted against the minister for making 'vulgar' remarks about her and PTI leader Firdous Ashiq Awan.
She regretted when the minister made offensive remarks about her, PML-N female MNAs opted to remain silent and did not utter a word in her support. Khawaja had not even tendered apology over his remarks, she lamented. She asked Ayesha Gulalai to come up with proofs to substantiate her allegations against Imran Khan.
Khawaja Asif, who has been given the portfolio of foreign minister in the new cabinet, had referred to PTI leader Firdous Ashiq Awan as the PTI's "newly acquired dumper" and Mazari as a "tractor trolley." Of late, former federal minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stalwart Firdous Ashiq Awan joined the PTI.
