The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) said on Saturday that River Indus was flowing in medium flood at Kalabagh-Chashma and Chashma-Taunsa and at low flood at Tarbela and Guddu. According to FFC report, rivers Kabul in Warsak-Nowshere reach and Swat at Chakdara bridges are also flowing in low flood. Rest of the main rivers, ie Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej including River Indus in Sukkur-Kotri reach are flowing normal.
At present, Tarbela and Mangla reservoirs elevations are 1537.00 feet & 1229.35 feet respectively, which are 13.00 feet & 12.65 feet below their MCLs of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet. Thus , the Combined Live Water Storage is 86.52 per cent of the total live storage capacity (ie 13.856 MAF). Overall flood management procedures and safety requirements are being kept in focus by the Dam Management Authorities while operating the reservoirs.
As per Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, Friday's trough of westerly wave persists over north-eastern parts of Afghanistan, whereas Seasonal Low still persists over North-eastern Balochistan. Weak moist currents from Arabian Sea are penetrating into upper & central parts of the country up to 5000 feet.
