Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate for NA-120 by-election Dr Yasmin Rashid has claimed that the ruling party is forcefully closing the markets in the provincial capital to facilitate former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's arrival. Talking to media here on Saturday, she alleged that markets around Bund Road are being shut down forcefully by the authorities. "The Punjab Chief Minister has instructed 'Patwaris' (land revenue officials) to gather people with flags to welcome Nawaz Sharif," she added.
Referring to the by-election in NA-120, she said they respect the vote and voters. "The use of state machinery by the sitting government will prove useless, as the poor man has decided to rise against the Sharif monarchy," she added.
She also challenged Shehbaz Sharif to contest the by-election against her from NA-120. "The ruling party has not nominated anyone for the elections, but we are in the constituency and from today we have launched a door-to-door campaign to meet the voters," she added. She said her party will not allow the government to rig the election.
