All top three positions have secured by girls students of Jinnah College for Women (JCW), University of Peshawar, as Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar announced results of Higher School Certificate (HSC) results for 2017. A total of 50,186 candidates were appeared in the exams, out of which 41,578 declared successful, showing passing per cent of 82.85, according to results announced by the board controller of examination during a ceremony held at auditorium of the board here.
Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Asad Qaiser was chief guest on the occasion. Besides, Chairman of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar (BISEP), Dr Fazlur Rehman, Controller of Examination, Hamidullah, Marwat, Chairman Technical Board KP, Ghulam Qasim Marwat, Director Higher Education Research and Teachers Training (HERTT), Munawar Alam, and other high officials, parents of top positions holders students, principals, faculty members were also present during the ceremony.
All top three positions secured by students of science group, as Laiba Ahmad of Jinnah College for Women University of Peshawar, got first position by obtaining 1027 marks out of 1,100, and Momina Mustafa of the same institute, secured second position by gaining 1025, while third position was shared between Irsa Sikandar and Asma Ali of the JCW University of Peshawar by obtaining 1023 marks.
In pre-medical group, Wasif Jan from Islamia College Peshawar, got first position by obtaining 990 marks out of 1,100, Sarah Usman of Forward Girls College Hayatabad Peshawar, gained second position by securing 987, while Aqeelur Rehman from Peshawar Model Degree College (Boys) got third position by obtaining 983 marks.
In general science group, Muneebullah of Frontier Institute of Management Science Fariqarabad Peshawar, got first position by obtaining 946 marks out of 1100, Fariba Laiq from Forward Girls College Hayatabad Peshawar, gained 926 marks, while Sania Saeed of Jinnah College for Women University of Peshawar, got third position by securing 894 marks.
In humanities group, Khadeeja Sharafat of JCW Peshawar secured first position by obtaining 941 marks out of 1100, Faryal Malik from the same institute got second position by securing 930 marks, while Hafiza Mahreen Malik of JCW University of Peshawar got third positing by gaining 909 marks. While, in theology group, Mohib ur Rehamn, a private candidate got first position by securing 844 marks. ssOn the occasion, the Islamia College Peshawar for girls declared as best institute of the year.
Asad Qaiser, Speaker KP Assembly while addressing on the occasion said the promotion of quality education was top priority of the incumbent provincial government, for this purpose, he added that it had declared education emergency across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
However, he stressed there is needed to do more for education sector. He informed that 28 percent allocation had been made for education in the provincial budget, including 75 per cent share for girls education of the total education budgetary allocations. He said that more than 50,000 teachers had recruited under National Testing System, to ensure transparency in the appointment.
He claimed that no province will compete with KP in education sector, adding that they had taken practical measures for bringing reforms. He announced that the government will soon regularize all teachers, appointed through NTS in the province. He praised the role of teacher and contribution in nation building. Earlier, the Chairman of BISEP, Fazlur Rehman highlighted the reforms initiatives taken by the administration for bringing improvement in the existing examinations system. The controller of examination also spoke on the occasion.
