Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday dismissed a petition, seeking placement of names of ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children on the Exit Control List (ECL), on the grounds of maintainability. A lawyer Raees Abdul Wahid has invoked the IHC jurisdiction in the matter making Nawaz Sharif, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, Maryam Nawaz, Captain Safdar (retired) and Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar as respondents.
The petitioner has requested the IHC to place names of the respondents on ECL, besides freezing their bank accounts, and recover looted money from them to be deposited in the national kitty. On Monday morning, after a brief hearing in the case, a single-member bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq reserved the verdict on the point of maintainability and then dismissed the plea announcing that petition is not maintainable.
