Taking notice of the murder of Superintendent of Police (SP) Tahir Khan Dawar, Prime Minister Imran Khan has tasked Minister of State Shehryar Afridi to look into the matter.

The premier wrote on his Twitter handle that he has ordered Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to coordinate with Islamabad police and immediately hold an inquiry. He wrote, "Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi has been tasked to oversee it with an urgency and present the report to me.”

On October 27, the SP went missing from Islamabad and was found dead when his photos went viral on social media this Tuesday. His body was badly tortured and his body was found Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, local media reported. Later, the Foreign Office had issued a statement confirming that the body of the SP was recovered by the Afghan locals.

On Wednesday, KP's Information Minister Shaukat Ali Yousafzai said a police delegation had waited at the Torkham border crossing all day for Dawar's body but had returned unsuccessful. He said that the body of Dawar is expected to be handed over on Thursday (today).
