One after another, Google is releasing various new features to its Google Maps platform to make it more user-friendly. With its latest feature, the users will be to chat with different businesses from within the app.
Google is rolling out a new update that turns the app into a messaging one to enable users to communicate with various businesses without going to another app to get more information about the particular place.
According to BGR, the feature can be accessed by simply tapping the menu button and select ‘Messages’. The user will then be able to see those conversations without having to leave the app.
Users can now ‘follow’ their favorite locations on Google Maps
As Google explained in an example, if a person does not wish to make a call to a bakery, or if they want to check if a shoe store has their size or not, the user can just simply press the message the business option present within Google Maps.
“Now you’ll see your messages with the businesses you connect with via Business Profiles within the Google Maps app, where you’re already looking for things to do and places to go or shop. You’ll find these messages in the side menu of both Google Maps for Android and iOS.” Google said in a company blog post.
However, theirs is one catch to the feature. In order to message businesses, the local businesses would have to enable message option too. The businesses that want to accept messages from customers can install the new Google My Business app from Google Play or App Store to sign up and enable messages.
Few weeks ago Google added more features to the app, including a ‘Follow’ feature that lets user follow any business, similar to Facebook Pages, and get updates about them.
