Prices of essential kitchen items continue to be skyrocketed

Prices of essential kitchen items remained on high slide during the past week as compared with the preceding week, a survey carried out by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. Potatoes price remained stable at Rs 3,100 per quintal and Rs 180 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 40 per kg while onions price went up from Rs 2,000-2,200 per quintal to Rs 2,500 per quintal and Rs 130-140 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 40-45 per kg against Rs 35-40 per kg.
Tomatoes are being sold at Rs 250 per 5kg which in retail are being sold at Rs 50-60 per kg, ginger price went down from Rs 900 per 5kg to Rs 700 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 150 per kg against Rs 200 per kg and garlic price remained stable at Rs 700 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 160-180 per kg.
Okra is being sold at Rs 200 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 50 per kg, peas at Rs 700 per 5kg which in retail are being sold at Rs 150 per kg, beans at Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail are being sold at Rs 100 per kg. Cauliflower price went up from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 350 per 5kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 60 per and cabbage price went up from Rs 100 per 5kg to Rs 130 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 30 per kg and capsicum price went down from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 220 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 60 per kg.
The survey observed that chicken prices witnessed an increase from Rs 4,800 per 40kg to Rs 5,000 per 40kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 135 per kg and chicken meat is being sold at Rs 220-240 per kg, eggs price were found stable at Rs 95 per dozen in wholesales market which in retail are being sold at Rs 105-110 per dozen.
Lemon price further went up from Rs 600 per 5kg to Rs 650 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 140 per kg. Brinjal price further went down from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 170 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 50 per kg and cucumber price went up from Rs 200 per kg to Rs 250 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 50 per kg.
Tinda price was found stable at Rs 200 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 50 per kg. Kadu price was found stable at Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 50 per kg, while kareela price was found at Rs 200 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs 50-55 per kg.
The prices of all the non-perishable kitchen items including rice, pulses, spices, sugar, tea, and wheat flour remained stable during the week under review. Prices of all the major pulses witnessed no change as Massh is being sold at Rs 180 per kg against, channa (gram) at Rs 190 per kg, lobia in the range of Rs 120-140 per kg, Moong at Rs 120 per kg and Masoor at Rs 110 per kg.
In the wholesale as well as markets, the prices of all the seasonal fruits remained on low slide as normal quality white apple is being sold at Rs 60 per kg, Chinese apple at Rs 200 per kg while New Zeeland apple at Rs 250 per kg, best quality grapes were available at Rs 150 per kg, while normal at Rs 120 per kg, best quality guava price reduced from Rs 100 per kg to Rs 60 per kg, while normal from Rs 70 per kg to Rs 40 per kg and best quality chikoo at Rs 150 per kg, while normal at Rs 90 per kg.
Good quality local banana price reduced from Rs 80 per dozen to Rs 70 per dozen, while normal quality from Rs 80 per dozen to Rs 40-50 per dozen, and Indian banana was being available at Rs 120 per dozen. Plum was being available at Rs 100 per kg, best quality peach was being sold at Rs 120 per kg, while its normal quality was available from Rs 80 to Rs 100 per kg. Various varieties of mango were available in the range of Rs 80 per kg to Rs 140 per kg.
