Week-long Makerthon event concludes

13 Aug, 2017

A week-long Makerthon event composed of hands on workshops, regarding robotics, arts and crafts, biotech, coding, stop motion animations and film-making, concluded here on Saturday. The young makers learnt in a cooperative environment where speakers and mentors from different fields came and offered in depth insights in different fields. The work titled more towards practicality, and the children were asked to work upon things using their own faculties.
Lanterns were released into the sky to mark the end of Makerthon on Saturday as parents, students, mentors and speakers gathered at Base-camp for the closing ceremony of the third skills boot-camp for young students.
The ceremony began with each Makerthon trainee being given a citizen card; a citizen of Peshawar city facing a problem. The students were then asked to present a solution within a specified timeframe.
The students came up with some very creative and unique solutions to solve many issues that were provided in the citizen cards. The event was attended by the students, mentors, speakers and the parents who applauded with cheer to see their children pitch with such renewed confidence. The second session was about filmmaking and was headed by Jawad Afridi, founder at Sync Tank.
