LHC halts PAT's planned sit-in

The Lahore High Court has halted the Pakistan Awami Tehreek to hold sit-in at Mall Road in Lahore. Pakistan Awami Tehreek chairman Tahirul Qadri has announced to stage a women-sit at Mall Road today (August 16) against the police atrocities in 2014 that had resulted the killing of 14 PAT workers. Earlier, the district government Lahore has turned down PAT request to hold a sit-in at Mall Road due to security reasons. Deputy Commissioner Lahore informed the PAT leader Sameer Ahmed regarding the decision.
On August 12, In a press conference at party headquarter Minhajul Quran Secretariat Tahirul Qadri said that the widows and daughters of the Model Town martyred have decided to stage a sit-in at Mall Road till they get justice. "I request the chief justice to constitute a bench after Eidul Azha to review the Justice Baqar Najfi report regarding Model Town tragedy, in which 14 PAT workers martyred and take the culprits to the task," Qadri said.
