Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Friday said that role of National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) is very vital in the fight against terrorism and it should ensure implementation on National Action Plan (NAP) in true letter and spirit. He said this during a visit to NACTA headquarters. NACTA Chief Ihsan Ghani briefed the minister about the anti-terror measures taken by the authority in the last few years.
The minister said that the government will take more steps to make NACTA more proactive. "The present government will make NACTA a vibrant and an exemplary institution," he added. The interior minister also directed NACTA chief to prepare an effective strategy in consultation with all provinces and relevant institutions. He also asked NACTA chief to prepare a comprehensive and solid narrative to protect young generation from extremism. The research on extremism should be further enhanced in order to eradicate the trend of terrorism, he said.
The interior minister said that rules and regulations should be framed on immediate basis to regulate collection of charity. "Our mission is to win fight against terrorism," he said, adding that eradication of terrorism is mandatory for economic development of the country.
He said that parents should also keep a check on the activities of their children and neighbors. Every individual needs to fulfill his/her responsibilities and work collectively for progress of the country by setting aside all differences, he urged.
