Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) is holding 'International Poultry Expo-2017' from August 24 to 26, 2017 in the provincial metropolis at the Expo Center Lahore. The three-day annual feature of the Association will be housing 150 exhibitors and 50 of them will be foreign companies. The expo will also have interactive sessions for academia, media, nutritionists and dieticians, doctors and students to have firsthand knowledge about the poultry sector, its contribution to the national exchequer and meeting the nutritional requirement of the public.
Chief Organizer of the Expo Abdul Hayee Mehta addressing a press conference here Tuesday said that the federal minister for food Sikandar Bosan is expected to inaugurate this event which is aimed at demonstrating the achievements of the poultry sector while federal minister for commerce Pervez Malik will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
Mehta said that poultry industry of Pakistan is now worth Rs 750 billion and the largest agro-based industry of the country substantially contributing to rural economies. Prospective entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to assess the viability of investment in poultry farming while diverse domestic and international businesses become cognizant of the present status of the industry, the way it is heading, its requirements in future and the opportunities it offers.
He said this year's expo will also have a 'poultry science conference' being held at the sidelines. Some 7000 participants have registered themselves for these events and about 10,000 people are expected to attend them, Mehta added.
