Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 184,943 tonnes of cargo comprising 152,957 tonnes of import cargo and 31,986 tonnes of export cargo including 6,240 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 152,957 tonnes comprised of 42,413 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,707 tonnes of general cargo; 21,296 tonnes of bulk cargo: 7,734 tonnes of soyabean meal; 3,821 tonnes of fertilizer; 2,060 tonnes of steel scrap; 2,771 tonnes of shredded steel scrap; 1,928 tonnes of poultry feed; 2,982 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 80,541 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,986 tonnes comprised of 30,466 tonnes of containerised cargo; 120 tonnes of general cargo and 1,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,240 containers comprising of 2,542 containers import and 3,698 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,136 of 20's and 621 of 40's loaded while 18 of 20's and 73 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 767 of 20's and 551 of 40's loaded containers while 675 of 20's and 577 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Al-Rawdah, KMTC Dubai, Kota Karim, MT Lahore and Chang Hang Hua Hai carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were two vessels viz. Kota Karim and Zambezi Star carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Ever Divine, Northern Dependant and OOCL California carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday, while four ships namely LEO Ocean, Densa Hawk, Golden Daisy and Da Kang carrying seeds, steel scrap, DAP and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were four vessels viz. MOL Emerald, CMA CGM Narmada, Alexandria Bridge and Alpine Persefone carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday while four vessels viz. APL Hawaii, Sabya, V Avocet and Ru Yi Song carrying containers, steel and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

The total import cargo of 118,497 tonnes includes 39,924 tonnes of furnace oil; 1,500 tonnes of LPG; 22,300 tonnes of palm oil; 30,828 tonnes of coal; 12,969 tonnes of soyabean seeds, 8,240 tonnes of chemical; 513 tonnes of general cargo and 2,223 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 58,254 tonnes includes 58,254 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,183 containers comprising of 117 containers import and 3,066 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely MT Karachi carrying furnace oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three ships namely CV CMA CGM Narmada, CV APL Miami and MT Thomson Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Narmada, CV APL Miami, CV Express Makalu, MV Porthos, MV Ru Yi Song, MV Sky Globe, MV Iris-II, MV YM Miranda, MT Thomson Gas, MT Karachi and MT MR Oresries currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen ships namely MV Tzou-Maz, MV Golden Glory, MV Sea Joy, MV Nautical Jennifer, MT Maran Gas Ascleplus, MT Khor Gas, MT King Craft, MT Stvanger Bliss, MT PVT Athena, MT Athina, MT Maritime Suzzanne, MT Athina, MT Bahra, MT Formosa Falcon, MT Glorious and MT Al-Dasma carrying project cargo, canola seeds, rapeseeds, coal, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupassand, MT Maran Gas Ascleplus, MT Khor Gas, MT King Craft and MT Athina carrying containers, LPG and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were seven ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassand, CV APL Japan, CV APL Hawaii, CV Jonathan Swift, MV Alliance Norfolk, MV Da Kang and MT Lion-M carrying containers, vehicle, project cargo and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Izmir and CV Tucapel carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
