Motorist killed, another injured

The city police on Wednesday shot dead a motorist and injured another one after their failure to stop at a checkpoint in Rawal Town. A police official said that two persons were traveling in a car bearing registration number AB-6867 when police personnel signalled them to stop at a police picket but the driver did not stop the car and speed up.
Police personnel opened firing and as a result one person namely Inayat, resident of Rawalpindi, sitting on the front seat died on the spot while the driver sustained severe injures. Soon after the incident police shifted the dead body and the injured to nearby hospital. Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal took notice of the incident and directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad to submit a report regarding the incident.
