PPP demands deployment of army in NA-120

05 Sep, 2017

The Pakistan People's Party candidate for NA-120, Faisal Mir, has demanded immediate deployment of army in the constituency to avoid bloodshed. "I have requested the Election Commission to do the needful," he said, and added that a delayed action may lead to the loss of human lives. He was addressing a press conference on Monday afternoon in connection with alleged firing on his election camp by the PML-N workers. President PPP Lahore Aziz-ur-Rehman Chan was also present on the occasion.
He said holding of independent and transparent elections in the area of PML-N goons was impossible who are terrorizing political opponents. The popularity of the PPP has panicked the PML-N which started threatening their workers through illegal acts, he said. He claimed that the local police were unwilling to provide him security because they filed an application against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and local MPA Majid Zahoor.
"Both Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the Punjab police would be responsible if they face any loss," he warned. He expressed doubts over non-verification of 29,000 votes and feared that the government has already managed them to cast votes in favour of Kulsoom Nawaz. According to him, both the PML-N and PTI have been securing seats in elections with the help of banned religious outfits which has now become impossible with active participation of the PPP in by-polls for NA-120.
He further claimed that the voters were supporting the PPP as the financial and moral corruptions of Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan has been exposed to the public. He said no violent act can stop him from representing the PPP in the constituency. He has been facing dirty tricks of the Sharifs since his life as student leader when both Aitzaz Ahsan and Asma Jehangir fought for him in courts against fake cases registered by the Punjab government, he added.
