Over 389,000 persons visited 14 wildlife parks and zoological gardens of the province during holidays of Eid-ul-Azha being run under the Punjab Wildlife & Parks Department. Over 113,000 people visited Lahore Zoological Gardens and Safari Zoo during these holidays and the department earned an income of 3.738 million as gate money while received Rs 269,000 under the head of parking fee from these two facilities.
This was revealed in a meeting convened here on Tuesday to review the number of visitors to different wildlife parks and zoological gardens and income generated from the gate money. Director General Wildlife & Parks Khalid Ayyaz Khan chaired the meeting which was also attended by Deputy Director Wildlife Publicity Aamir Masood and other officers.
The DG Wildlife speaking on this occasion said that last year over 77,000 people had visited Lahore Zoo while this year over 88,000 people visited it. Similarly, Safari Zoo was visited by 25,310 persons this year while last year the number was only 15,667.
