The plight of the Rohingya Muslims deserves attention as nearly 400 have been killed as Myanmar army stepped up crackdown on the Muslim minority. As many as 38,000 Rohingya have crossed into Bangladesh from Myanmar. The treatment of Myanmar's roughly 1.1 million Rohingya is the biggest challenge facing national leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been rightly criticised for not speaking out for a minority that has long complained of persecution.
The streets of Chechnya capital Grozny which was almost razed to the ground in a highly brutal manner in the second Chechnya war by Russian president Vladimir Putin presented on Sunday the most impressive show through which protesters condemned the killings of members of Rohingya Muslim minority. The entire Islamic world is required to draw a lesson from Chechens' strong reaction to Rohingyas' plight.
