Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua on Tuesday informed a parliamentary committee that Pakistan wants a peaceful and stable Afghanistan which is in the best interest of our own people. "There is no 'safe havens' of any terrorist group anywhere in the country", she told the committee, adding that Pakistan under military operations such as Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fassad has taken effective actions all the terrorist groups without any discrimination. The sources said that the foreign secretary also briefed the committee of the Foreign Minister's recent visits to the regional countries including China, Iran and Turkey, saying that the foreign minister shared Pakistan's perspective with regard to the war on terror.
They said that the leadership of all the three countries lauded Pakistan's contribution with respect to fighting terrorism and extremism and also assured their full support in the efforts. The sources said that the opposition senators expressed displeasure over the in-camera session, as they believed that it was necessary to make the committee proceedings public for ensuring the transparency.
