Few weeks ago, Samsung showcased its expensive foldable phone’s prototype. Now, according to recent patents, seems like Samsung is trying to make different variants of the same phone, and they are absolutely stunning.
The prototype of Samsung’s foldable phone, probably named as the Galaxy F, showed a 4.6-inch screen when folded and a 7.3-inch tablet when unfolded. However, according to a recent patent discovered by LetsGoDigital, the phone will come in with various foldable options rather than just one simple designed.
The patent demonstrates the same smartphone-cum-tablet, but with different designs. One of the models show narrow screen edges, with speakers and sensors incorporated in the bezel. Another model shows the main display runs through the side of the phone all the way to the front with bezels on the top and bottom.
Another design features an even more advanced design where the speaker, sensors and home button are incorporated in the display. Also, a virtual keyboard can be seen in the front display too.
Samsung’s foldable phone to reportedly launch in March 2019 for hefty price
One of them show a front display covering only half of the front, the upper or the lower half. There is also a version showing two narrow front displays. Instead of two narrow displays, one can also opt for one narrow screen. The front display is also connected to the main display. If any of the two screens is not in use, it can be automatically switched off.
There is also a very slim rotatable hinge used. The patent also describes the presence of a digital camera, though the camera placement is not clear. There is also a design showing three separate display areas when the phone is unfolded, all three having different apps and the user can use them all simultaneously. Also, the patent describes the incorporation of a ‘hologram device’ and a ‘projector’ in the phone too, so that the phone shows 3D projection images in air, wrote LetsGoDigital.
This patent clearly does not mean all the designs will come to life, but it does provide insights about how the phone is expected to look in the future. Moreover, the phone is expected to launch in March 2019 with a hefty price of $1,770.
