Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that on September 17, the PTI will be victorious and they will end 30 years reign of corruption of the Sharif family. "The people will defeat the corrupt mafia on Sunday and a new Lahore will emerge," he added.
He was addressing a PTI election rally here on Thursday. Imran Khan led a rally from the Charring Cross to Datta Darba, which was organized in connection with election campaign for the N-120 by-election. He was accompanied by PTI Secretary General Jahangir Tareen, Dr Yasmin Rashid, a PTI candidate for the NA-120 by-polls, and PTI leaders Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, Shafqat Mahmood, Muhammad Sarwar Chaudhary, Ejaz Chaudhary and Aleem Khan.
Interestingly, the PTI leaders present in the rally violated the code of conduct announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), as the route of the rally falls within the NA-120 constituency. According to the ECP rules, no parliamentarians or ministers can take part in the election campaign in the constituency. Earlier, in a press conference with Dr Tahirul Qadri, the PTI chief maintained that he is going to the Datta Darbar to offer a 'fateha', but he was seen leading a large election parade on a truck, flanked by his MNAs and MPAs.
Addressing the rally, Imran warned the voters of NA-120 that the PML-N will try to buy their votes or coerce them in to voting for the ruling party, but the time has come to defeat the corrupt mafia. He urged the voters to vote for justice. He also questioned Maryam Nawaz about the properties owned by the Sharif family. "These properties were purchased with illicit money," he said. He claimed that he or his owns no property outside Pakistan.
