As many as 140 foreign delegations have so far confirmed their participation in the international carpet exhibition commencing on October 5 in Lahore. The Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association senior vice chairman and chairman exhibition, Riaz Ahmed, revealed this while presiding over a meeting here on Thursday. He appreciated the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), especially for releasing a part of funds for holding the exhibition.
The association paid tributes to TDAP officials for solving the traders' long pending issues besides helping them to boost export of the carpets. He asked the government to increase the number of employees in TDAP so that issues of carpet exporters could be resolved on urgent basis. This would help increase the carpet exports manifold in future, he added. The PCMEA vice president asked the government to set up new offices in different cities of the province and deploy honest, hardworking and talented officers to give a boost to the country's exports. He urged the TDAP to release the remaining portion of the funds so that the final preparations of the exhibition could be geared up. The registration of the foreign delegations has been completed, he said, and hoped that the exhibition would be helpful in increasing the volume of carpets export.
