Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Tahirul Qadri announced full support on Thursday for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid in the forthcoming by-poll election in NA-120. He said PAT had also supported the PTI candidate in the general election in 2013. The PAT Chief was addressing a joint press conference with Imran Khan in the city. Qadri said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was not ousted from power over Iqama but for not being righteous and honest
He further said he would continue with his democratic campaign and keep fighting until the Sharifs were hanged for their alleged complicity in Model Town tragedy. He went on to call the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members killers of humanity, saying everyone saw how the PAT activists were killed during the Model Town tragedy.
The PAT chief asked the people to vote for preventing dynastic politics from taking over once again. When Imran Khan was asked about the contempt notice issued to him by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), he said that former PM's daughter Maryam was running the election campaign with all powers of her party. "It is as if she has become the deputy prime minister. Maryam is committing contempt of the ECP on a daily basis," but no contempt notice was issued to her. According to the PTI chief, the ECP was only toeing the line of the government and it was not impartial at all. He announced that the PTI could approach top court against the ECP's behaviour.
