So far 116 confirmed dengue patients have been reported in Punjab, out of which 89 belonged to Punjab, 20 from other provinces and seven from Islamabad. In Punjab, up to 25 patients were reported from Lahore, 12 in Rawalpindi, 10 in Gujranwala and six from Faisalabad. This was revealed during dengue awareness seminar here on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Principal PGMI and Ameer uddin Medical College Prof Dr Ghias un Nabi Tayyab said that dengue courses would be mandatory for the medical students and newly appointed doctors, nurses and para medical staff of Lahore General Hospital.
Prof Tayyab maintained that the people can save themselves from many diseases by maintaining proper cleanliness and doctors should play their role in spreading know how among masses in this regard. Experts said that every fever does not mean that it is dengue and people should avoid approaching quacks. In case of fever, the victim should immediately contact hospital where free and high quality treatment is available for dengue patients.
