Siyal stresses need for adopting scientific methods in agriculture sector

Sindh Minister for Home, Agriculture, Mines and Mineral Development Sohail Anwar Siyal has underlined the need of adopting scientific methods for bringing rapid improvement in agriculture sector of the province.
He said the provincial PPP government and the party leadership are fully aware of the importance of agriculture sector and committed to bring rapid improvement by introducing latest technologies. The minister expressed these remarks while speaking at a ceremony of handing over of 18 new bulldozers to Sindh Agriculture Department at Agriculture Engineering Workshop Tando Jam on Friday.
He informed that on the directives of PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari, the provincial government of Sindh had initiated number of development scheme to enhance crop production which could help in improving the socio economic conditions of peasants and growers of the province.
He said that the newly well designed state of the art bulldozers provided by a Chinese company would help to improve the agriculture sector of the province. He thanked the support of the Chinese Government adding that China is extending full cooperation for improvement in agriculture sector of the province.
Among others, Sindh Secretary Agriculture Sajid Jamal Abro, Director General Agriculture Muhammad Ramzan and Director General Agriculture Extension Hidayatullah were also present on the occasion.
Later, minister while talking to media persons after attending a ceremony informed that the provincial government has initiated effective measures for combating terrorism and crimes and results in this regard are satisfactory as compare to other provinces of the country.
He informed that those involved in killing of policemen in Karachi have been booked while effective steps have also been initiated for the arrest of terrorists and criminals from different parts of the province.
Responding to a question about the measures for maintaining law and order during the month of Muharram-ul-Haram, the minister informed that foolproof security plan has been chalked out to maintain peace during the month, however, he said that possible of sectarian conflicts cannot be ruled out for which the provincial government is taking effective measures to overcome the situation if any occurs.
Replying to another question, the minister said that PPP has due respect for judiciary however, the provincial government has had reservations over the decision of Sindh High Court in the issue of IGP Sindh for which the government has decided to approach the apex court.
