Activists of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday staged a protest demonstration against imposition of ban on new electricity and gas connections in the rural areas of the federal capital by Capital Development Authority (CDA). The protesters led by PTI MNA Asad Umer demanded the government to immediately lift the ban or be ready to face the music as the dwellers of capital will take to the streets against the unruly attitude of the civic body.
The protest was attended by a large number of PTI workers holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the CDA. Heavy contingent of police was deployed on the occasion to avert any untoward situation.
Speaking on the occasion, Umer said that CDA is intentionally depriving the residents of Islamabad of their basic rights by imposing an unnecessary ban on new gas and electricity connections which is no way acceptable. Talking to the reporters about rejection of review petitions filed by Sharif family against July 28 Supreme Court judgment in Panama Papers case, he said that justice is fully done with the rejection of the review petition. He said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references will prove to be the last nail in the coffin of Sharif family's monarchy. At the same time he warned the CDA 'Baboos'(officials) to be careful while dealing with people as their days are over, adding that any maltreatment of the masses by the government employees will be dealt with an iron fist.
