1st phase of MARSEW 2017 culminates

Pakistan Navy is conducting the maiden Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW) on the theme "Secure Seas - Prosperous Pakistan" at Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore. Two weeks duration MARSEW, commenced on 11th September, is aimed to create maritime awareness, enlighten the participants on vast maritime potential of Pakistan and its significance for overall economic growth of the country.
The 1st Phase of the workshop, comprising one week on-campus activities has been culminated. During this phase, an array of prominent speakers dilated upon various aspects of Maritime Security through Seminars, Presentations of Research Papers, Table Top Discussion and other interactive sessions. The speakers include Ex Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral M Asif Sandila, V/Adm Asaf Humayun (Rtd), V/Adm Iftikhar Rao (Rtd), R/Adm Pervaiz Asghar (Rtd), Cdr Obaidullah (Rtd), Cdr M Azam Khan (Rtd), Dr Salman Shah, Dr Ali Sultan, Ahmer Bilal Soofi and Dr Zafar Jaspal. All sessions of the Maritime Security Workshop were attended by parliamentarians, civil & military dignitaries, members of academia and PN Staff Course members.
During the second phase of Maritime Security Workshop, commencing 18th September, the delegation of participants will visit Pakistan Navy installations and units at Karachi, Creeks and Coastal areas. The delegation will also visit Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW), HQs Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) and Sindh Fisheries Department for necessary orientation/ familiarization.-PR
