Commissioner concerned over gridlock in city

Serious measures are required to address the frequent gridlock in the provincial metropolis, said Commissioner Karachi Ejaz Ahmed Khan. Presiding over a meeting at his office, the Commissioner expressed deep concern over the present state of traffic in the city. The DIG Traffic Imran Yaqoob Minhas briefed the meeting in detail about the reasons of traffic jam and road incidents in city's thoroughfares.
The Commissioner called city traffic police to assess and formulate remedies for the resolution of traffic jams and road accidents specially at Metropol hotel, Mehran Hotel, Karsaaz, PAF Museum , Ibrahim Rehmat Allah Road, Rashid Minhas road, Drigh road, Shaheed-e-millat flyover, ICI bridge, Aga Khan Road and its adjacent areas. He ordered to form a committee comprising traffic police, Traffic Engineering Bureau, representatives of KPT and PAF museum to exam the issues discussed in the meeting and their remedies and present the same to Commissioner Karachi within a week.
Additional Commissioner Karachi Farhan Khan Ghani, Senior Director Traffic Engineering Bureau Qazi Abdul Qadir, Additional Deputy Commissioner South Muhammad Hussain, Additional Deputy Commissioner East Irfan Salam, Director Traffic Engineering Municipal Cooperation Muhammad Taha Siddiqui. The officials of Traffic Engineer Bureau Haider Ali, Cantonment board and KPT also attended the meeting.
