In order to explore opportunities, a Thai trade delegation comprising of Seafood importers has arrived here on a 4-day Pakistan visit. Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has organized the visit of this 17-member foreign delegation that began on Sunday and will continue till Wednesday.
As the country's export promotion authority organized an opening session at a hotel, here on Monday in which DG Marine Fishing Department Waseem Khan gave a detailed presentation on fishing laws and fishing industry of Pakistan.
A Businessman to Businessman (B2B) meeting session was also held between the delegates of Thailand with their Pakistani counterparts that saw a good participation from local exporting companies.
The TDAP officials said that relations between Pakistan and Thailand had constantly grown over the years. They said the current volume of bilateral trade between the two countries was around $1 billion and there was a good scope to further increase it by improving connectivity between their private sectors. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2015-16, they said Pakistan had exported products worth some $107 million to Thailand out of which $46.82 million was of fish and fish products.
There is a huge potential of export of fish and its product from Pakistan. They expressed hope that the visit of Thai delegation would bring joint ventures between the fisheries sector companies of the two countries.
