An international emergency team comprising of the office-bearers and experts from Asian Fire Service Association (AFSA), UK, called on the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Punjab Shamail Ahmad Khawaja here on Monday. The team was led by the Pakistani-British national Mehrban Sadiq and it included Chief Fire Officer (R) UK Fire Service Darel Operey, Fire Fighting Management Expert Steven Garcia, Driving Instructor Expert in Emergency Response Driving Skills Muhammad Ali and Secretary International Emergency Team UK Sahibzada Irfan Shah.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised the ACS Punjab that the team has come to Lahore for evaluation and capacity-building of fire and driving instructors besides extending cooperation in development of technical specification of installation used in fire simulators. It was agreed during the meeting that the preventive front regarding development of fire fighting system should also be focused. For this purpose, the engineering universities from both UK and Pakistan should collaborate to come up with such architectural solutions, which would make the newly constructed buildings more secure and fire-proof.
