NAB arrests two charged with embezzlement

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has arrested two accused namely Ghulam Mustafa and Muhammad Naseem over their alleged involvement of Rs 67 million embezzlement in connivance with ex-Land Acquisition collector (LAC) Mian Abdul Rauf.
Peering into details, both accused helped in embezzlement of Rs 67 million meant for expansion of Pattoki Chunian road whereas, the amount was deposited into Mian Abdul Rauf by Punjab highways department as compensation money for acquisition of Land for said road expansion. Moreover, the accused managed to deposit the amount fraudulently into their accounts.
NAB Lahore has, so far, arrested Mian Abdul Rauf and six other accused in the same case and recovery of looted money is underway according to plea bargain deal being approved by the Accountability Court. The recovered amount is, simultaneously, being deposited into provincial government's exchequer. Hence, reference against all arrested accused has been filed in Accountability Court.
NAB Lahore after arresting both accused Ghulam Mustafa and Muhammad Naseem presented before an accountability court whereas, the same has granted physical remand of the accused persons till 28th September, 2017 for further investigations.
