Criticizing Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's statement, former interior minister and senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N), Chaudhry Nisar Ali Tuesday said that government officials should refrain from issuing statements that embarrass Pakistan in front of international community.
Reacting to the statements of the Prime Minister "on the need for putting our own house in order," he said that the Prime Minister should put the house in order but issuing such statements publicly would not only embarrass Pakistan in front of international community, but it will also reinforce the enemy's narrative. "Who is preventing the Prime Minster from putting own house in order. If he intends to do so then he should go ahead, but issuing such statements publicly is harmful for the country," he pointed out.
He said that the enemy's narrative is strengthened when the government officials issue public statements on internal issues. He said these statements weaken Pakistan's position internationally. Khan said that Indian government or politicians never admit to the atrocities of extremist organisations operating in their own country. "The government should focus more on taking practical steps rather than issuing such statements," he said.
He said that the terrorists coming from Afghanistan are creating chaos in Pakistan. He asked whether Afghanistan or the United Sates ever acknowledged doing 'in-house cleaning' in Afghanistan. "There is no precedent of in-house cleaning that has been done in the last four years," he added.
