KARACHI: As part of its policy to reopen viable routes, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Tuesday resumed flights on Sialkot-Sharjah sector.
The flight PK 209 took off from Sialkot international Airport, said a statement.
President & CEO PIA, Air Marshal Arshad Malik while sharing his views on the commencement of flights from Sialkot to Sharjah said that Sialkot is a leading industrial and financial hub and its fast connectivity to world is essential.
PIA was first to operate from the Sialkot International airport which is also the first airport in private sector.
He said the Sharjah flights are being operated for the convenience of the business community and residents of Sialkot and adjoining areas.
Air Marshal Malik said very soon PIA will also launch flights to Europe from Sialkot.
"We are making all-out efforts to increase revenues and to provide improved services to passengers with convenient connections in the country."
CEO Sialkot International Airport (SIAL), General (Retd) M. Abid Nazir was the chief guest on the occasion.
District Manager PIA, Muhammad Arif and Station Manager PIA, Tariq Gulzar along with other PIA officials were also present to greet the passengers.
PIA is now operating twice a week flights from Sialkot to Sharjah operating on Tuesday and Friday bringing a total of five flights to Sharjah, three flights are already operating from Turbat.
