Senate Committee on Ethics met here at the Parliament House on Thursday to discuss the draft rules of procedure of the Committee on ethics, 2017. The committee meeting underwent detailed discussion on the composition of the Committee, its functions, proceedings, procedures to file complaints, procedures for inquiry and reporting matters to the House, said a press release.
The meeting was chaired by Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani and was attended by Deputy Chairman Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Senators Taj Haider, Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, Azam Khan Swati, Usman Kakar, Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Senator Siraj-ul-Haq, Senator Jehanzeb Jamaldini and Secretary Senate Amjed Pervez Malik.
Secretary Senate told the meeting that the Code of Conduct to be followed by the Ethics Committee has already been finalised in previous sittings and has been adopted by the House. The Code of Conduct is now a part of the Senate's Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business. The Committee decided to finalise the Rules by the next month so that the Committee of Ethics can be made operational.-PR
