Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 115,130 tonnes of cargo comprising 87,400 tonnes of import cargo and 27,730 tonnes of export cargo including 4,833 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 87,400 tonnes comprised of 30,136 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,404 tonnes of general cargo; 11,667 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,223 tonnes of rapeseeds; 5,444 tonnes of fertilizer and 37,193 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,730 tonnes comprised of 21,330 tonnes of containerised cargo and 6,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,833 containers comprising of 2,285 containers import and 2,548 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 890 of 20's and 561 of 40's loaded while 273 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 702 of 20's and 163 of 40's loaded containers while 424 of 20's and 548 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Kota Karim, MSC Lara, Northern Dependant, Bahra and SC Shenzhen carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. Bodo Schulte, Navig8 Honor and Al Shroog carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Grand Dahlia, Niwa and Da Hong Xia carrying vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely FG Rotterdam, Scirocco and Al Shroog carrying oil tankers are expected to sail on Saturday.
There were three vessels APL Coral, Mohar and Grand Dahlia carrying containers, cement and vehicle respectively due to arrive on Friday while eight vessels viz. Wan Hai-506, prosper, CMA CGM Georgia, Virgo, DL Clover, Saehan Estrella, Eraclea and Pacific Korea carrying containers, chemical, DAP and coal respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

The total import cargo of 102,892 tonnes includes 23,273 tonnes of diesel oil; 21,400 tonnes of palm oil; 1,712 tonnes of LPG; 6,116 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 30,479 tonnes of coal and 19,912 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 14,345 tonnes includes 14,345 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,803 containers comprising of 1,048 containers import and 755 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were two ships namely CV Mataquito and MV Ruining-2 carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely MT Krui Beke and MT Chemroad Echo carrying LPG and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Mataquito, CV Northern Movement, MV Ruining-2, MV MG Earth, MT Krui Beke, MT Ever Rich-6, MT Carlous Magnus, MT Glorious and MT Chemroad Echo currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola seeds, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twenty ships namely CV Torrento, CV Maersk Izmir, MV Nireas, MV Three Saskias, MV Saehan Estrella, MV TRS Mandal, MT Maria-III, MT Caspian Gas, MT Mer Babu, MT Karachi, MT Pavino Spirit, MT Brizo, MT Maistros, MT Mezaira, MT Glorious, MT Sovereign, MT Bahra, MT Grand Ace-II, MT Ginga Ocelot and MT Bunga Aster carrying containers, soyabean, chemical, LPG, crude oil, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Torrento, CV Prosper, CV Maersk Izmir, MV Saehan Estrella and MT Grand Ace-II carrying containers, chemical and palm oil expected to take berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were eleven ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV MSC Joanna, CV Torrento, CV MSC Tomoko, CV MSC Erthi, CV APL Charleston, CV Uni Florida, CV APL Miami, MV Da Hong Xia, MV Ellington and MT Lion-M carrying containers, general cargo, chemical and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are two ships namely CV APL Coral and CV GH Zephyr carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday. There is one ship namelyMV YM Miranda carrying chemical due to arrive on Sunday, while another ship namely CV MSC Bruxeller carrying containers is due to arrive on Monday.
