IHC admits petition against Asif for hearing

After the Finance Minister, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif is in hot waters as Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday approved a petition against Khawaja Asif for hearing. The petition is based on the fact that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Khawaja Asif holds UAE Iqama (work permit) and therefore he should also be disqualified like the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
The revelation about Khawaja Asif's Iqama came after Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) had revealed that Nawaz Sharif holds an Iqama for UAE and holds a salaried post in his son's company. Islamabad High Court has made a larger bench for hearing Khawaja Asif s disqualification petition which will start its proceedings from September 26. Khawaja Asif had earlier claimed that his Iqama was with Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the past 27 years and he had submitted all the detail about it.
This news comes after National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had raided the Islamabad house of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar earlier this week and had frozen his accounts and expropriated his assets.
