Street crimes on the rise in Islamabad

The incidents of robberies, purse snatching, car lifting and kidnapping for rape registered an increase in the federal capital during the last week. According to data gathered by Business Recorder here on Saturday through registered first information reports (FIRs), various police stations of the city registered over six cases of theft including robberies, burglaries and purse snatching, four cases of auto theft and three cases of women kidnapping for rape.
During the last week, most favourite areas for the criminal gangs were within the limits of Shalimar, Ramna and Khanna police stations. Shalimar police station registered one case each of auto theft and robbery. According to details, a car bearing registration number LXD-7433 of Muhammad Sadiq was stolen from the limits of Shalimar police station. In another incident, the accused Kamal along with four other unidentified persons broke into the house of Muhammad Yousaf, located in the jurisdiction of Shalimar police station, looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables, and escaped from the scene.
Similarly, two cases of purse snatching were reported to Khanna police station during the last week. One victim Shams-ul-Haq informed Khanna police station that unknown person stole his purse and mobile phone during a wedding ceremony. Another Awais Ahmad lodged a complaint with the same police station that unidentified pickpocket stole deprived him of his mobile phone. During the last week, Ramna police station registered two cases of motor vehicle theft. The car lifters stole a car bearing registration number IDD-5081 of Imran Khan from his house. They lifted another car bearing registration number AQX-275 of Gull Muhammad parked outside his house located in the limits of Ramna police station.
