Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair on Sunday visited Shantinagar in Karachi at the invitation of the local leaders of the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI). A statement said that he was invited by chairman Union Committee 23 Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Ghulam Akbar Morejo. President of the PTI Karachi Division, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, was also present. The Governor first visited the Gharib Nawaz Football Ground and also went to Manak Government Secondary School and met with the teachers.
He also visited the Char Minar Mosque which was inaugurated by the second Governor General of Pakistan Khawaja Nazimuddin in 1949. Zubair directed that immediate steps be undertaken for improving the health and cleanliness in Shantinagar area. He announced that in the Karachi Package focus would be on the rehabilitation of the infrastructure. With the inclusion of Rs 25 billion from the federal government, the amount of Karachi Package would be Rs 75 billion to be spent on development projects in the metropolis.
PTI leader Firdous Shamin Naqvi thanked the Governor for his visit and said that this has encouraged the people of the area. Union Committee chairman Ghulam Akbar Morejo apprised the Governor of the problems of the people of the area. These included provision of clean drinking water as well as lease in UC 11.
