Though the event of opening the stores took place on October 29, Xiaomi India only announced its victory just recently after everything was cleared and it met all the requirements to earn the title, reported GSM Arena.

The smartphone manufacturer explained that the expansion of its brand is a part of a ‘New Retail’ model for India where its goal is to provide ‘flagship store experience’ to customers in rural areas.

Moreover, for the upcoming year 2019, Xiaomi has even more plans that is to open 5,000 new brick-and-mortar stores and also to employ more than 15,000 people across the whole country. The company is already the leading Indian smartphone market by sales. According to Mashable, both Xiaomi and Samsung account for 60% in India’s total mobile shipments, however in Q3 2018, the Chinese firm had a market share of 27% in India as compared to 23% market share of the South-Korean firm.
