Government urged to establish better equipped fire fighting stations

Senior Vice President of Site Super Highway Association of Industry (SSHAI), Sultan Salahuddin Chishti has urged the government to establish most modern and well equipped fire fighting stations in all the seven industrial estates of the city on priority basis.
Expressing concerns over six fire incidents in different industrial units in less than a month causing considerable financial losses, he said that the government of Sindh has paid no heed to long pending demand of association to establish fire stations at all the industrial estates of the city.
He said despite the fact that the industrialists pay taxes at provincial and federal level, the governments ignore their long pending demand of fire fighting stations in the industrial areas.
He further demanded of the Chief Minister Sindh to allocate funds for the stations and the control of proposed fire stations should be handed over to the representatives of respective industrial association of the area.
He expressed dismay over the New Karachi carton industry incident of fire wherein the factory was gutted due to fire fighters delay in reaching the fire incident spot.
He said that the fire fighting system in Karachi is outdated and used up due to which fire brigade department is unable to extinguish fire timely and effectively.
