South Asian Region of International Consultancy Institution JSI has lauded the steps taken by the Punjab government for improving quality of healthcare system in the province. The representative of JSI Dr Regional Gipson accompanied by national coordinator Dr Nadeem Hassan met provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique, here Wednesday.
Dr Reginal Gispson said on the occasion that setting up an independent Healthcare Commission for ensuring MSDS in health facilities, infection control and eradication of quackery from the society are praiseworthy steps. He, however, stressed the need to provide additional support for strengthening the Punjab Healthcare Commission.
The meeting also discussed to ensure minimum service delivery standards in the hospitals, eradication of quackery, improving and enhancing the healthcare facilities to the general public, community education on health issues, promotion of awareness regarding preventive measures and the health issues of mother & child health. The issues of malnutrition and stunting in the children also came under discussion.
Secretary Health Najam Ahmad Shah apprised the foreign delegate regarding the initiatives taken by the government for improving mother & child health, control on maternal as well as infant mortality rate and the importance of role of skilled birth attendant in safe deliveries. Khawaja Salman Rafique informed the representative of JSI regarding the initiatives taken for health sector development as well as improving the medical education in Punjab.
